[...] The concert on Friday was an outstanding example of innovative and stylish program planning.  [...] Manuel de Falla's Siete canciones populares españolas which we now heard in Luciano Berio's congenial orchestration, formally vibrates with delicious folklike local colours, and the same applied in large measure to Antón García Abril's song cycle Canciones del jardín secreto.

[...] Even though it is music that could have well been written much earlier, just like e.g. de Falla's, but with its prominent visual connotations -Antón García Abril is a proclive film composer- and sensual tones it was nearly impossible to resist.

Not least as it was interpreted by the Irish mezzo Zandra McMaster who lives in Spain. With her fabulously well-sounding voice and her extraordinarily calibrated registry of feelings, she made all conceivable justice to the vocal pieces of the evening, and to Antón García Abril, who was present at the Hall, seemed quite content. [...]
